Quiet Time
“Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed.” Mark 1:35
Jesus knew the value of spending time alone with God. Jesus was God. He was fully God and fully man. He was sinless and yet He took time every day to spend with His Father. In the midst of His ministry, He knew that He would have no time alone during the day. He was surrounded by crowds everywhere He went. There were people to heal, crowds to be fed, and multitudes to be taught the truth of God’s love and grace. From morning till night he was busy. Instead of hitting the snooze button and closing his eyes for just a few more minutes, Jesus got up, and went to a solitary place to pray. He longed for time with His Father. He enjoyed the sweet fellowship they shared and did whatever was necessary to make it happen, even if He had to get up while it was still dark and seek out a place to be alone. This causes me to pause and consider how much I long for that sweet fellowship. To what lengths do I go to spend time with my Savior? How much more do I need time alone with Him for instruction, for teaching, for training in righteousness and just for intimate fellowship to get to know Him more?
